You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.
Finding a musical genre to focus upon hasn’t been like finding a needle in a haystack. It has been like picking a needle from a 10-foot pile of needles.
The problem is that I like too many kinds of music, and I like to create them all. I love Martin, Medeski and Wood, Philip Glass, Rachmaninoff, Palestrina, Hans Zimmer, dZihan and Kamien, Dr. Dre. I adore their music. But when I had to pick one – just one – to invest my time, I had to really dig deep to find the music that gives me deep satisfaction from having made it, even if no one else in the whole world hears it or appreciates it. That’s what the Dominium Project is for me – music that makes a difference to my own soul.
I’ve had to go through the same process with this blog. There are a thousand things I could write about. Tips and tricks in using audio programs – Lord knows I know enough of them. Productivity hacks, of which I am in constant need. I could write passionately about collaboration software for years.
But right now, the things that mean the most to me are those times, as I wrote in my “About” page, where art and spirit meet. Those times when the Universe reaches through dimensions and shows me something meaningful. Those are the things that I will take to my grave. The moments that will stay with me.
And so that’s it. That’s my focus. That’s where I am investing my energy. This is my particular needle.
I hope you’ll join me on the journey.
